CONFERENCE: Communities and Cultures of the Balkans -- Friday, September 14 - Preregistration is required - The conference is offered as a special professional development opportunity for teachers but it will be open to all willing to attend. The presenting scholars will cover a wide range of topics including comparative studies of the Balkan music and dance, costumes and accessories, aesthetics and symbolism; historical transformations of the Balkan traditions, as well as adaptation of traditional art forms to the contemporary way of life. The preservation of the Balkan cultural heritage in the multi-cultural context of the American society will also be discussed. Sep 14, 2012
